Summary: "So Sad"

I am sad to say I immediately sent this book back. The color reproduction is horrible. I had read some other people complain about the reproduction and I didnt think I would care. Well it is just awful, and completely takes away from the beautiful paintings that m. sasek has done. Shame on the publisher for releasing such garbage. Hard to believe in this day and age with technology and the advancement of printing that they turn out such crap, and then think people will buy it.

Summary: "fun book to inspire travel"

I purchased this book solely on the fantastic illistrations but great content as well. my girls and i loved going thru the book several times and had great dicussions about traveling to san fran (which we are planning to do in the near future). i would highly recommend as a travel book for kids in fact, as it does a great job touching on all the fun things in san fran.

Summary: "This is San Francisco"

As a preschool teacher in San Francisco, This is San Francisco had my students so excited that they couldn't stop relating to the story. It took me three days to finish the book since the children wanted to relay their experiences visiting the various sights. A few places no longer exist, but it is still a great book to use as a historical reference. And if you are planning to visit San Francisco, I would take a minute to skim through this book as it has all the places you would want to explore within its pages. By the way, the illustrations are absolutely charming.
